Babble to Bloom

Speech Pathology

At Babble to Bloom, we provide speech pathology services to children in their natural environment, at home, daycare, preschool, school or in the community

Bloom

/bluːm/

From Proto-Indo-European root *bhel- meaning "to thrive, flourish"

Babble to Bloom is a dedicated mobile paediatric speech pathology service. We service the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland region. Telehealth is also available.

Through tailored, family-centred services, we partner with families, educators, and communities to nurture each child's unique strengths, promote confidence, and build pathways to meaningful participation in all areas of life.

Our lead therapist, Sarah has experience working on speech sounds, receptive and expressive language, early language development, social communication, fluency (stuttering), literacy and pre-literacy development.

Sarah is a qualified Orofacial Myology Therapist (OMT) who takes a holistic approach to therapy, addressing the underlying muscle function of the mouth, face, and neck rather than treating speech or feeding difficulties in isolation. She works collaboratively with other professionals involved in each child’s care, including ENTs, dentists, chiropractors, and occupational therapists, to provide coordinated, comprehensive support.

Sarah is a bilingual speech pathologist, and enjoys working with families from a diverse range of backgrounds.

A note from Sarah

Hello! I’m Sarah, Director and Speech Pathologist at Babble to Bloom and a grateful mum of two.

I love working with children and families to support communication, connection, and confidence. As a speech pathologist, I value the opportunity to help children develop skills that make everyday life easier—whether that’s learning new words, being understood, expressing their needs, or engaging more confidently with the people around them.

I aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where children feel safe to learn, and families feel understood and involved. It’s a privilege to be part of each child’s journey and to help them grow in ways that matter to them and the people around them.

  • Play is the most natural and motivating way for children to learn. Using games, toys, and pretend scenarios helps children practice speech and language skills in a fun, low-pressure setting. This approach keeps sessions engaging while building communication, social, and problem-solving skills at the same time.

  • Child-led means the therapist follows the child’s interests and cues to guide activities. This approach helps children feel in control, motivated, and more willing to participate. By working within activities the child enjoys, therapy becomes more engaging and supports genuine, meaningful communication growth.

  • At Babble to Bloom, we have a neuroaffirming focus on supporting each child’s unique way of thinking, communicating, and interacting with the world. Instead of trying to “fix” differences, this approach celebrates them and builds on individual strengths. By creating a respectful and accepting environment, children feel safe, understood, and empowered to develop their communication skills.

  • We believe in capacity building and parent education to support progress beyond the therapy session. By coaching parents and caregivers, therapists share strategies and tools that can be used in everyday life. This empowers families to create more opportunities for communication practice, helping skills develop faster and more naturally.
